Plans and billing

WhoseDev offers free and paid plans. Managed AI (WhoseDev Cloud) consumes account or workspace quota according to your plan. Direct provider (BYOK) and local Ollama routes bill through your provider or local environment—not WhoseDev credits.

From the editor:

See whosedev.com/pricing for current plan tiers and pricing.

When you are signed in with an active workspace subscription, the account menu shows remaining managed credits for that workspace:

Window What it shows
5 hour Short pacing window (hover on Usage remaining)
Weekly Weekly pacing window (hover)
Billing period Included credits remaining for the current subscription period (detail screen)

Warning bands: remaining at 20% or below is caution; 5% or below is critical. Unlimited plans show Unlimited instead of a percent. Missing quota is shown as unavailable — not as zero remaining.

The detail screen can also show credits per agent task when your plan sets a per-turn approval amount, plus a last-updated time. If the fetch fails, WhoseDev can keep the last successful snapshot and mark it stale until you retry.

Usage remaining applies to WhoseDev Cloud. BYOK and local Ollama do not draw from these credit windows.

Area Plan impact
Managed models Which cloud models appear in the picker and AI Settings. Greyed models may require another plan, be blocked by workspace policy, or be unavailable in this environment.
Agent modes The picker still shows Ask, Plan, and Act. WhoseDev Cloud can reject a turn whose mode is not in the subscription’s allowed list. Local Plan also requires a qualified Ollama model.
Usage quota How much managed AI you can consume in 5-hour, weekly, and billing windows
Team features Organization workspaces, member management, AI budgets
BYOK / local Generally available regardless of managed quota (subject to your provider or hardware)

If a WhoseDev Cloud turn uses a mode your subscription does not include, the request reports that the agent mode is not included and may prompt you to upgrade. The mode chips are not removed from the composer. Local Ollama and BYOK are not gated by that managed-mode list.

Model availability can also depend on workspace policy for organization accounts.

WhoseDev Cloud agent, chat, inline edit, and Tab requests consume managed quota when routed through WhoseDev infrastructure. Optional whosedev.usage.syncLocal (off by default) can sync privacy-safe token counts and outcomes for local and BYOK routes — never prompts or source code. See Privacy and usage.

Team administrators can review workspace AI budget and usage reports for organization workspaces. See Teams and workspaces.

Route Who pays
WhoseDev Cloud Your WhoseDev plan / workspace budget
