Agent skills
Skills are optional capability packages stored in .whosedev/skills/. Each skill describes a specialized workflow, domain knowledge, or procedure the agent can load when a task matches.
Create a skill
Section titled “Create a skill”- Run WhoseDev: Initialize .whosedev for this Workspace if you have not already (this creates
.whosedev/skills/). - Add a skill folder or file under
.whosedev/skills/following your team’s skill format. - Commit skills you want shared with the team.
Skills are discovered at runtime. The agent can call list_whosedev_skills to see what is available and load_whosedev_skill to load one into the current session.
When to use skills vs rules
Section titled “When to use skills vs rules”| Mechanism | Best for |
|---|---|
| Rules | Always-on conventions: style, verification, restricted paths |
| Skills | Specialized workflows loaded only when relevant (deploy runbook, migration checklist, domain-specific tooling) |
Use rules for constraints that should apply to most tasks. Use skills for deeper playbooks the agent should pull in selectively.
Manage skills
Section titled “Manage skills”Open WhoseDev: Manage Workspace (.whosedev) and choose the skills entry, or browse .whosedev/skills/ directly in the Explorer.
